Jumanji (जुमान्जी or जुमानजी) is a 1995 American-Canadian fantasy adventure film directed by Joe Johnston. It is an adaptation of the 1981 children's book of the same name by Chris Van Allsburg. The film was directed by Joe Johnston, written by Greg Taylor, Jonathan Hensleigh and Jim Strain, and stars Robin Williams, Kirsten Dunst, David Alan Grier, Bonnie Hunt, Jonathan Hyde and Bebe Neuwirth. The special effects were provided by Industrial Light & Magic for computer graphic elements and Amalgamated Dynamics for animatronics components. The story centers on a supernatural board game that releases jungle-based hazards upon its players with every turn they take.
This film has received two Hindi dubs. The first one was done by Sound & Vision India and it is available for viewing on Amazon Prime Video India and JioCinema. It was directed by Leela Roy Ghosh. The second dub was produced and made by an unknown dubbing studio.
In 2005, Zathura: A Space Adventure, a spiritual successor, was released in theaters. In 2017, a direct sequel to Jumanji, which was called Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle was released. In 2019, a sequel to that film, Jumanji: The Next Level was released. A sequel to that film is also in development.
