SWAT Kats: The Radical Squadron is an American animated television series created by Christian Tremblay and Yvon Tremblay and produced by Hanna-Barbera and Turner Program Services and ran from September 11, 1993 to January 6, 1995 in the United States.

In India, SWAT Kats was one of the very first programs to air on Cartoon Network India, when it launched in 1995. It has quickly became one of the most popular animated series to air on the network. Originally, it aired in it's native English version. Later on, a Hindi dubbed version was made and this version premiered on January 4, 1999. This was at the time of the very first day when the network started offering foreign programs dubbed in Hindi. Sound & Vision India was responsible for making the dub. The series still remains popular among fans in India to this very day and it has gained a bigger fanbase than the smaller, yet loyal U.S.'s fanbase.

Changes made in the Hindi dubEdit

The Hindi dub had some name changes in this animated series in order to make it more suitable for an Indian audience. Chance and Jake's names were changed to Bholu (भोलू) and Billu (म्याऊ). T-Bone and Razor on the other hand became Bade Meow (Big Meow) (बाडे म्याऊ) and Chote Meow (Small Meow) (छोटे म्याऊ). The changes were rather humorous in terms of adding local flavor towards Hindi-speaking audiences of India. These names were actually a play on a Bad Boys inspired Bollywood film Bade Miyan Chote Mian. The Pastmaster was also re-named to Daityom Ke Raja (दैत्यों के राजा) which means King of Demons.
