Sound & Vision Studios (साउंड ऐन्ड विज़न स्टूडियोज़) (originally known as Sound & Vision India) is an Indian dubbing studio group in India, with their main studio located in Andheri West Mumbai. They have dubbed for theatrical/television films, cartoons, TV series, anime, and documentaries.
History[]
Sound & Vision Studios was founded in 1992 by Leela Roy Ghosh and her daughter Mona Ghosh Shetty. They had been dubbing foreign media for Indian audiences for many years, including hundreds of Hollywood movies and thousands of TV shows made by leading producers worldwide.
Sound & Vision Studios mainly adapts foreign content into several languages of India: translating scripts into English, Hindi, Tamil and Telugu, nextly recording voice actors performing these scripts, and finally synchronizing the new audio with the visuals and sound effects of the originals. They have also dubbed into Urdu, Marathi, Bengali, Gujarati, Malayalam and recently Punjabi (the film A Good Day to Die Hard).[1]
The company hires English-, Hindi-, Tamil- and Telugu-speaking voice artists for the main characters and additional speaking roles in language-dubbed adaptations, mostly films and TV programs that were made outside of India. Hindi dubs are usually made in Northern Indian states such as Mumbai, while Tamil and Telugu dubs are made in Southern Indian states and Sri Lanka. The company has also adapted Indian films made in one particular language, for example, by dubbing Tamil films into Hindi, and dubbing Hindi films into Bengali.
Sometimes this company also does post-production for some Bollywood or other films made in another region of India that are already shot in the same language during the acting stage that this studio is dubbing, but for some reasons. Sometimes certain actors can't convey their voices to certain tones, accents or dialects well enough due to either temporal health issues, certain conditions that prevents actors to transmit through their roles, or by all means of disusing their voices. That is why dubbing artists are hired by being called-in to dub for corresponding actors to resolve the solution, depending on how the director wants it to be, whenever that film needs to be into the process of ADR or not.

The First 8 seasons of the Hindi dub, was based on the 4Kids Entertainment English dub. The later seasons were also revised translations of the English dub. In 2011, Originally aired on Cartoon Network in India. Later, this anime also received Tamil and Telugu dubs for the later seasons regarding the India broadcasting, when the anime moved to Pogo. In Pakistan however, it continues to air on Cartoon Network and has been, since 2004. On May 19, 2014, The Indigo League season begun to air on Hungama TV, but containing a new Hindi dub featuring a new voice cast, and even a new translation by UTV Software Communications, due to license rights and because Cartoon Network and Hungama TV are rival channels. It is also because Disney (the owner of the channel since 2011) could not afford to use the original dub. Both Hindi dubs are revised translations of their English adaptation counterparts. |
